Privacy

Last updated 9 August 2026.

Short version: this site sets no cookies, shows no advertising, and has no forms. It counts page views using analytics software that runs on a machine in my own office, described in full below. Nothing here identifies you and no data about you reaches anyone else.

What this site does not do

The page-view counter

This site runs Umami, an open-source analytics package, on a server in my own office. It is not a hosted service — no third party receives the data, and there is no account anywhere that could combine it with anything else about you.

What it records for each page view:

What it does not do is equally specific. It sets no cookies, which is why this site still has no consent banner. It stores no personally identifying information, assigns you no persistent identifier, and cannot follow you to any other website — Umami has no cross-site data to follow you with.

Do Not Track is honoured. If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, the tracker does nothing at all. Content blockers also block it, and a fair number of readers here run one. That means these numbers undercount, which I would rather have than a complete record collected from people who asked me not to.

The counts exist so I know which measurements were worth writing up. They are not sold, shared, or used to target anything at you.

What happens anyway

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of your request — IP address, user agent, the page you asked for — in order to deliver the page and to protect the site from abuse. That processing is Cloudflare's, under their own privacy terms, and I do not receive or store those logs myself beyond aggregate counts.

Articles occasionally link to other sites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under their policy, not this one.

Who is responsible

Local LLM Labs is the data controller for anything this site processes. In practice that is nothing, but any right you wish to exercise is exercised against the publisher of this site, reachable at [email protected]. Write to that address and you will reach the party responsible.

Your rights

Rules like the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a site holds about you — access, correction, deletion, objection. There is none held here, so there is nothing to access or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to the address above and you will get an answer.

If this changes

If I ever add analytics or advertising, this page changes in the same update, before anything is switched on, and the date at the top changes with it. A privacy policy describing a different site than the one serving it is worse than having none at all.

Affiliate links

This is a commercial site, and some articles link to retailers through affiliate programmes. Any post that does says so in a disclosure at the top. Those links carry a tracking code identifying this site as the referrer, so the retailer knows where you came from — that is how the commission is attributed. Once you follow one you are on the retailer's site under their privacy policy, and what they collect is between you and them. Nothing about you comes back to me beyond an aggregate count of referrals and sales, with no indication of who anyone was.

This site takes no payments and holds no accounts, so there is no billing or customer data here either.
